Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Taznakht – Agdz
Your 7-day Sahara adventure begins in Agadir, a beautiful coastal city known for its beaches and relaxed atmosphere. After breakfast, we set off across the fertile Souss Massa plain, famous for its aromatic orange groves and the unique argan trees that grow only in this region of Morocco.
Our first stop is Taroudant, often called the “Grandmother of Marrakech” due to its similar red walls and lively souks. You’ll have time to explore the medina and its traditional markets before we continue to Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital. Here, we stop for lunch and learn about the local production of this valuable spice.
In the afternoon, we travel through the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, passing by Taznakht—famous for its handmade Berber carpets—and Bou Azzer before arriving in Agdz. This peaceful town sits at the entrance of the Draa Valley, surrounded by palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional hotel or riad.

Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – Tagounite – M’Hamid
After breakfast, we follow the scenic Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most picturesque valleys. The road winds through palm-filled oases and fortified villages, with views of the surrounding desert mountains.
We stop for lunch in Zagora, a town that once marked the end of the caravan route from Timbuktu. Continuing south, we pass through Tagounite and reach the small desert village of M’Hamid—the gateway to the Sahara. From here, the landscape transforms into dunes and dry riverbeds.
Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp near the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. Enjoy the silence of the desert, traditional Berber music around the fire, and a sky filled with stars.
Day 3: M’Hamid – Tamegroute – Zagora
After a peaceful night in the desert, we travel back north along the Draa Valley. On the way, we stop in Tamegroute, an ancient town known for its Koranic library containing centuries-old manuscripts. You can also visit the town’s pottery workshops, famous for their distinctive green-glazed ceramics.
We then continue to Zagora, where you’ll have free time to explore or relax at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable riad or guesthouse.
Day 4: Zagora – Tazarine – Rissani – Merzouga Desert
Today we journey deeper into the Sahara, traveling through small desert towns and mountain passes. We first cross the Tizi n’Tafilalet pass before stopping for lunch in Tazarine, a quiet town surrounded by desert landscapes.
From there, we continue through the Valley of Tafilalet, Morocco’s largest oasis region, and reach Rissani, the former capital of the Alaouite dynasty. Its lively market is full of spices, carpets, and traditional crafts.
By late afternoon, we arrive at Merzouga, at the foot of the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll embark on a camel trek across the golden sands to your desert camp. Witness the sunset from the top of the dunes before enjoying dinner, music, and a night under the stars in a traditional Berber tent.
Day 5: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorge – Ouarzazate
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara, an unforgettable sight. After breakfast, we leave the desert behind, traveling through Rissani and Erfoud—known for its fossil workshops—then continue through Tinghir to the dramatic Todra Gorge.
Here, sheer cliffs rise up to 300 meters high, and you can take a walk through the gorge or relax by the river. We then follow the Dades Valley and pass through Kelaa M’Gouna, the town of roses, before reaching Ouarzazate. Visit the beautiful Kasbah Amridil before dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, we explore the iconic Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Morocco’s most famous kasbah. Its earthen architecture and narrow lanes have served as the backdrop for many Hollywood films.
We then cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) through the High Atlas Mountains, with plenty of stops for panoramic photos. Upon arrival in Marrakech, enjoy a guided tour of the city’s highlights, including the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fna Square. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad in the heart of the medina.
Day 7: Marrakech – Chichaoua – Imintanout – Agadir
After breakfast, we travel west towards Agadir, crossing the fertile Haouz plain and the scenic High Atlas Mountains. We stop in Bigoudine for lunch and a visit to a traditional Berber home, where you can experience genuine Moroccan hospitality.
