Day 1: Ouarzazate – Merzouga

We depart from Ouarzazate and head to Merzouga which is known for the highest sand dunes in North Africa. The desert of Erg Chebbi is about 20 km long, 5 km wide, and is a unique, multifaceted environment. On our way, we will have the chance to see many oases such as the oasis of Tinejdad. We will continue our tour passing through the little Berber towns of Mellab, Touroug, Erfoud, and Rissani. After visiting Rissani Market, we will continue our way enjoying the green oasis of Ziz–Tafilalt and the black Hamada before arriving at Merzouga.

Day 2: Tour around the desert by 4×4, camel ride and night in the desert

In the morning, we start our tour around the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will visit a Berber house and listen to some Gnawa music; originally from Ghana and Sudan. We will visit some deserted mines, Berber nomads, and an oasis of palm trees. For lunch, we will head back to Merzouga. After relaxing for a time we will go for the camels that are waiting to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes. We will spend the night in an equipped camp with drums music in the middle of the Sahara, which is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. When we arrive at the camp, we climb the high dunes to see the sunset and spend the night in nomad tents.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate

After an early sunrise, we will ride the camels back to Merzouga, have an opportunity to take a shower, and have breakfast. Then we’ll start our tour back to Ouarzazate.
